LETTERS TO MARIA > LETTER #7
August 21st, 2005
Dear maria
My name is Ayelet Keshet, I am from Israel. I would like to tell you why do I like kimeru.
First of all, I must confess: I'm not really into music. My musical sense is more than limited, and I don't listen to music often. This
is why I can't tell you that kimeru is a splendid musician or a wonderful singer, though I think he is. But I would like to tell you other
things about kimeru. to me, kimeru offers a lot more than music. I watched him perform, and act at the "prince of tennis" musicals, and
this is how I got to discover kimeru's power.
While watching him perform, I can feel his love to what he does, and it thrills me. His passion and energy are so enormous; he really does
bring life to the stage. Kimeru lives his music. He breaths it, he is fed by it. While performing, his great energy flows to the audience,
who reacts with the same energy blast, which returns to kimeru, and so on. This is a circle of vitality which I admire in the art of stage.
This passion you see in kimeru, this true love to what he does, is what makes the difference between a plain pop-star, and a real artist.
At the end of the show, you see kimeru standing on the stage, sweaty and breathing hard, smiling wide and thanking the audience over and
over from the depth of his heart. You see how the energy of the stage affects him. When I see this powerful performance, I get so
inspired. I say to my self, this is what I want to bring out in my work as an actress.
When I see an artist who sucks life out of his work, I am delighted. Once the emotions behind the music are real and come from the heart,
even a non-musical person like me is captured.
After I watched kimeru in several live concerts and "prince of tennis" musicals, I decided to learn more about him as a person. I wanted
to know if this person is worth being a fan of. As I said, his energy and passion attracted me, but it was not enough. I wanted to see
what kind of a person he really is. I watched the making of "prince of tennis" musicals, some interviews, and I read his column at the
"kimeru official website". All of them indicated that kimeru is a fun and life-loving person, which is nice, but more than that- he seems
to be a very honest and humble person, who cares for other people and respects them. The way he speaks at the interviews, the way he
laughs and smiles with everybody, the way he fools around with his friends (you can read about it in his column), it makes you fall in
love with him.
I don't like the masks and disguises of some of the modern pop-stars. They dress, look and act according to some social code. Kimeru is
not like that. He is just being natural, and brings us his pure and honest emotions. I think an artist should always remember that both
him and his fans are first of all- humans. We all have to be real to each other. If you are just trying to be "cool", and make an image
of some super idol, you might get a bunch of screaming fan-girls. But if you are being real, you will get the people's heart. When I see
kimeru being so natural, shows his feelings, thanking his audience and appreciates the love and support of his fans, I simply respect
him. I hope all artists, and all people, would be like him.
Next october, i am planning to come to japan. I would like to come to kimeru's live concert. This will be my own "thank you" to kimeru.
I'm sure it will be a very special experience for me, and who knows, maybe I will learn a few more things from him.
I hope my letter made you appreciate kimeru a little bit more, not only for his music, but also for who he is. Please give kimeru a try,
you might also fall in love with him.
Yours-
Ayelet
