LETTERS TO MARIA > LETTER #9
August 24th, 2005
Dear Maria:
First I have to apologize for my English since it is not my first language
and I didn't learn it till I was fourteen. Therefore, I can't use
descriptive words that can fully express my feelings. However, I will try as
much as possible to recommend Kimeru and his music because he is definitely
worth hearing.
Since I am not doing a report on Kimeru, I won't go on with his biography
too much. However, there is one thing worth mentioning: he was a mailman
before he turned to singing. When he was a child, he had always wanted to be
a mailman because he loved the excitement when he received letters from his
friends. When he was a teenager, he loved singing because it helps to
express his soul. He worked as a mailman for three years and was encouraged
to try out on an audition. This shows that he is determined and passionate
about his singer career. It is not for show, not for money but the passion
for singing and people.
The first time I really listened to his song is on his performing in "The
Prince of Tennis Musical". I was just amazed at his ending song "You Got
Game". He has a powerful voicethat convey what he want to express even
though his techniques are not perfect. I can really hear the passion in his
voice and "feel" his voice. Although some people may think I am
exaggerating, but I really think that he uses his soul to sing when I
watched him performing in "The Prince of Tennis Musical."
Then I started to find his songs. To be honest, many of his song melody
sounds alike; this is probably one thing I think Kimeru's lackingˇXthe
experience of singing different style of songs. Yet, he tried various style
of singing. His style changed bit by bit as year goes by, his great voice
did not change, but his techniques sure improved a lot. His techno songs are
usually to encourage people to face their lives with a more positive
attitude while his love songs are really to express the different feelings
that he had in his life. I recommend all his songs, but the first one that
caught my ears despite "You Got Game" is "Endless Pain". When I listen
to his voice in this song, I can feel the hesitation, the pain, the
uncertainty that he is going through. He really puts me into what he was
singing, I am not just listening to his songs, but feeling his soul.
Another reason why he was able to express his songs so clear is that he
writes most of the lyrics. His new single "The Answer Will Come" is
another example. He wrote the lyrics to reflect one of his fan's letter
because she was going through some tragedy in her life. His two songs "The
Pleasure of Love" and "Pink" in past single "The Pleasure of Love", is
written because he wanted his fans to share the happiness of loving and
being loved.
I don't think it's hard to find out that Kimeru loves being with people.
When he joined "The Prince of Tennis Musical", almost every member on the
team has written about Kimeru on his web diary. Even the host who
interviewed them said that they should open a site called "The diary of
observing Kimeru" because it appears that the center of topic is always
about Kimeru. And indeed, he is the center of attention when he sings. He
emits a special aura and light when he sings. That is his confidence and
his passion.
There are so many things to talk about when it comes to his personality. He
is positive, friendly, caring and I can go on forever. But everything comes
back to that he is people-oriented. He loves people and loves being with
them. That's one reason that his passion will not die, he will continue to
write, to sing, not only to satisfy himself, but to share his confidence and
passion to other people and help others out. I can't remember how many
times I heard his "Be Shiny" and decide to never give up, or when I heard
"Beat a Path" and decide to walk towards my goals no matter how far they
may seem.
Confident. Passionate. Positive. Friendly. Hentai. Kirakira.
It is all Kimeru. A singer who touches souls with his voice.
